Northern Works Wastewater Treatment to Hydrogen and Power

Namhlanje Energy Group has developed decarbonizing patented technology for commercial plants in partnership with international equipment suppliers (Original Equipment Manufacturers) (OEMs) (Baker Hughes, Lummus/Siemens and Megchem ) to bring in turnkey capacity to deliver a financed commercially ready Wastewater to energy and hydrogen predesigned package for implementation in South Africa as an active alternative energy Independent Power Producer (IPP), starting with Northern Works, in a joint venture with Johannesburg Water. We have a training and commercialization partnership with Mintek, Northwest University, Cape Peninsula, Tshwane University of Technology with Imperial College and TU Aachen as a global in-practice Industrial Engineering Energy Academy that will be involved with change management and retraining of staff and community development ESG for local value creation and youth development.
This FOOTPRINT  system is envisaged to seamlessly integrate with any of your effluent wastewater which can have in composition a mixture or any of leachates, black liquor, industrial waste and sewage. The Namhlanje near supercritical thermal oxidation plant takes the raw effluent through a combination of very high pressures and temperatures converting the effluent into a variety of gases, salts, and distilled water. The gases released are used to drive turbines which in turn produce green electricity, and then cooled by PSA systems to provide pure clean water for human consumption, plus hot air, Hydrogen, Oxygen , Nitrogen in the same cycle for industrial use as well as  nitrate, phosphate and sulphates as solid by-product ZERO PFA fertilizer and precursors. This is the only certified process in the world that neutralizes PFAs is sewage systems . The Northern Works sewage water treatment facility is currently utilizing 9 MVA of power, totally reliant on the Eskom grid electricity for power. However, we believe that implementing this pilot cogeneration plant we would significantly contribute the following:

  • improve not just the treatment efficiency and waste residence time but energy usage.

  • convert the treatment site from a cost centre to a profit centre self-sufficient in energy

  • minimize environmental impact from a high carbon footprint to a negative carbon footprint using existing infrastructure.

Namhlanje Energy Group’s Wastewater to Energy Project presents a groundbreaking investment opportunity in clean energy and sustainability. Investors are invited to participate in this transformative initiative to generate significant financial returns while driving environmental impact and de-carbonizing wastewater treatment with green energy and hydrogen.

Let’s Work Together
for a greener,
de-carbonized

present into the future!
